About the Position
Established in 1984, Normetals has built a strong reputation as a trusted supplier of scrap metal, new and used steel, chain and marine equipment, and specialised pipe solutions throughout Adelaide. With more than 40 years of industry experience, the business is now focusing on its core strength of scrap metal recycling. Building on an already substantial operation, Normetals is committed to further expanding and strengthening this key area of its business.
As Normetals enters this exciting new chapter of growth and development, an opportunity has become available for an Accountant Part-Time (20-30 hours per week) to join their team based in Ottoway. Working closely with the leadership team, you will play a key role in supporting the business's financial operations while contributing to its continued success and future direction.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for:
Prepare and lodge BAS/IAS, and other statutory compliance requirements
Complete month-end processes, including reconciliations, journals, and financial reporting
Prepare accurate management reports and provide financial insights to support business decisions
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation
Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records
Assist with cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities
Support payroll processing and related compliance obligations
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting efficiencies
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and relevant stakeholders as required
Provide general accounting and administrative support to the leadership team as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have at least 3–5 years of accounting experience and a strong understanding of month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You are a detail-oriented and analytical professional who takes pride in producing accurate and timely reporting and can confidently manage competing priorities.
Ability to work independently while also being a valued member of a close-knit team.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, you can work effectively with stakeholders across the business
Proactive, reliable, and hands-on in your approach
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting systems
