Due to a recent retirement, an exciting opportunity has become available for a Debt Recovery Officer to join this close-knit and supportive team. Working closely with an experienced team member, you will play a vital role in guiding matters through the debt recovery process while building positive relationships with clients, debtors and external stakeholders.


About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the delivery of high-quality debt recovery services

  • Provide guidance, education and support to clients

  • Managing and maintaining payment arrangements

  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including third-party agencies

  • Managing client, debtor and agency communications, ensuring timely responses and accurate record-keeping.

  • Liaising with Body Corporate Managers regarding payment and recovery arrangements

  • Responding to client and third-party information requests

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and industry requirements

  • Ensure all legislative and compliance obligations are met


Skills and Experience


To be successful in this role, you will bring previous experience in debt collection, debt recovery or credit control, together with a customer-focused approach and the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people. A Certificate III in Financial Services will be highly regarded.


You will also possess:

  • High-level proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills and ability to educate and guide others

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, consistent and high-quality work

  • Proactive approach to problem solving, with a focus on achieving practical outcomes.

  • Exceptional written & verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a small team environment
