About the Position

An Adelaide-based debt recovery organisation is seeking a Debt Recovery Manager/Specialist to oversee and manage the operations of a national body corporate organisation across its Australian branches.


As a Debt Recovery Specialist, you will be responsible for managing escalating debt recovery cases, guiding them to resolution, and implementing strategies to minimise bad debt exposure while optimising cash flow through effective recovery processes.


Responsibilities

  • Implement a national debt recovery strategy that includes facilitating enforcement proceedings and property settlements.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of debt recovery

  • Analyse debt portfolios to identify trends, risks, and opportunities

  • Manage legal file deadlines and represent the organisation in legal proceedings

  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting on debt recovery progress

  • Identify potential risks within the debt portfolio and implement strategies to mitigate risks.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team

  • Remain current with changes in laws and regulations

  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant laws, regulations and company policies


Skills and Experience


As the Specialist/Manager of a small debt collection team, you will have previous experience in debt recovery or credit management together with relevant tertiary qualifications in finance or business administration, possess a ‘Mercantile Agents License” or have the knowledge necessary to obtain it.

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a small team.

  • Strong understanding of debt recovery laws and regulations

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with customers, legal advisors, and financial institutions

  • Proactive in problem-solving and providing practical solutions

  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • A current driver’s license and a personal vehicle are required

  • Must hold or be able to obtain a valid police check.
